Several groups of injured Palestinians crossed into the Egyptian territory via the Rafah Crossing and blogger Ahmed Al Sabbagh and blogger Mohamed Hamdy organized a morale-boosting visit to the Red Crescent Hospital. Al Sabbagh wrote upon his return:
بكاء .. وألم .. وعجز .. وحسرة .. ودموع .. فى عيون شباب مصر والمدونين أثناء زيارة ضحايا المجزرة الوحشية فى غزة المدونون أتو من كل مكان وبمختلف التيارات والإنتماءات إلى مستشفى الهلال الأحمر ثم توجهنا إلى مستشفى معهد ناصر العدد الذى أتى اليوم الحمد لله عدد ضخم وأيضاً إلتقينا فى معهد ناصر بمجموعة كبيرة من "أبناء مصر" و "ومجلة بحلقة" و "شباب الفيس بوك" و "جمعية مصر للثقافة والحوار" ضحايا المجزرة الوحشية رحبوا جداً بالزيارة وكانوا سعداء لأقصى درجة .. مع العلم بإن كثير منهم رفض المساعدات المادية .. وإنهاروا فى البكاء بمجرد رؤيتنا حكايات مأساوية تنتزع الدموع من العيون وتنخلع لها القلوب يحكيها ضحايا المجزرة الوحشية فى غزة .. جميعهم لا يعرفون شيئاً عن أبنائهم وأمهاتهم وزوجاتهم وأسرهم .. الكهرباء مقطوعة فى غزة .. صواريخ وقذائف إجرامية وحشية تأتى فى أى لحظة بدون إنذار .. فتقتل من تقتل .. وتصيب من تصيب سجلت فيديو مع إثنين من الضحايا وسمحوا لى بالتسجيل والنشر .. وسيدة إنهارت بكاءاً حزناً على أبنائها المفقودين .. ثم رجل شبه سليم جسدياً كان يصلى فى غرفتة لفترة طويلة ونحن فى إنتظاره ثم علمنا أن هذا الرجل قد فقد إبنه ليلة أمس نعم قد إستشهد إبنه بين يدية فى معهد ناصر بعد أن انهى صلاته دخلنا له لم يتحدث .. فقط سلم علينا فى حرارة خرساء ونظرة متجمدة فى عينيه بكينا جميعاً وشعرنا بالعجز والمرارة صور الزيارة فيديو الزيارة ندعوكم جميعاً لزيارة جرحى وضحايا المجزرة الوحشية فى مستشفيات الهلال الأحمر – رمسيس مستشفى معهد ناصر – المظلات مستشفى فلسطين – مصر الجديدة
Tears, pain, helplessness, and pity showed in the eyes of young Egyptians and bloggers during their visit to the Red Crescent Hospital in an attempt to support and condole the victims of the Israeli massacre. Regardless of our political parties or religious beliefs, we all headed towards Nasser Institute where we were met by bigger numbers of youth from "Egypt's Sons", "Ba7l2a Magazine", "Facebook youth", and "The Egyptian Association for culture and dialogue". The wounded victims welcomed our visit and were overjoyed upon seeing us. Although many refused financial aid, they all burst into tears as soon as our eyes met. They told us their horror stories and how they are totally cut off from their families, mothers, children, wives, and that Gaza itself is cut off. Rockets and shells attack ruthlessly at any moment killing and wounding randomly and blindly. I taped with two of the victims who allowed me to interview them. A woman lost her composure as she told me about her missing kids. A man who seemed physically well was praying in an adjacent room for a long time – later on we learnt that his he lost his son yesterday right here in this very same hospital. After he was done, we walked in and he did not talk; he warmly greeted us in painful silence and a lost gaze in his eyes. We all cried. We felt the bitterness of being helpless. كمان لاحظت من كلامى مع المصابين أن ملهمش اى انتماء سياسى … لا حماس ولا فتح ولا الجهاد ولا العفريت الازرق .. كلهم ناس عاوزه تعيش فى سلام وتشتغل وتكسب رزقها وتربى عيالها زى اى حد .. لاقو فجاه الصواريخ فوق دماغهم بدون اى مبرر .
I also noticed during my conversation with the injured that they have no political orientation whatsoever; they neither support Hamas nor Fatah or any other entity for that matter. They are all ordinary people who want to live in peace, work, earn their living, and raise their kids. Instead they were bombarded for no reason.
