Ask Marwa: My mom is prettier than I am

Hi Marwa

I have a huge problem that is making me miserable. I wish I was never born. Would you believe me if I told you that my mom is the cause of my misery?

I will tell you why; my mom is gorgeous. She is this beautiful tall model-looking blond whereas I look like my dad. I am not ugly but next to my mom I look like a dull ordinary girl. When my friends meet her, they do not believe that I am the daughter of this pretty woman.

They ask me why I look nothing like her. The guys at school, instead of showering me with compliments, the first thing they tell me is how wonderful my mom looks. I was performing in a play at school and she stole my light just by showing up.

I am beginning to feel jealous of her and I asked her not to pick me up from school again. I do not want to go into details about what happens on the beach, at weddings, or even while walking with her on the street. I love her but her presence hurts me

.The ugly duckling

Hello ugly duckling

I am surprised you chose that name to sign off your message to me; don't you remember how the ugly duckling grew up into this beautiful swan?

I looked up the story for you and this is how it goes: A mother duck hatches her eggs, and while most of her ducklings are normal, only one is grey, too large, and too clumsy to fit in among the others. Though she tries to accept him, the entire barnyard realizes that he simply does not belong and after a period of harassment he leaves to fend for himself.

He is sheltered by an old woman in her poor cottage, but her cat and her hen will not accept him and he is forced to set off once again on his own. He wanders for the entire summer and fall, for no one will take him in, and he nearly freezes to death in an icy pond.

Though he is rescued by a human, he cannot live in captivity, and he returns to the wild.

By the end of winter, he is still ugly. He comes to a pond in a park or garden, where astonishingly beautiful white swans are swimming. He is drawn to their beauty, though he has no reason to think that they will treat him better than anyone else has.

To his surprise, the beautiful creatures welcome and accept him; gazing at his reflection, he sees that he too is a swan. The children declare that he is the most beautiful swan of them all, yet he is not proud, for a good heart is never proud.

Because of all that he suffered he now appreciates his happiness so much more.

Moral of the story: If you were in Europe, you would be the most beautiful girl and if you were in Africa, you would be the fairest of them all.

Beauty is relative. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. I am so sorry you have to suffer the stupidity and ignorance of a lot of people in our society. I want you to know that people are silly and stupid and their words do not mean anything.

I want you to know that being blonde does not mean being pretty … it is your spirit that lights up your face and attracts people to you. God made you pretty because he does not create anything that is not pretty. You just need to find your inner talent and beauty. Let people see the inside of you instead of focusing on looks. Let your soul captivate them. Be happy, genuine, and positive and let beauty find its way from your heart to your face.
