#Jan25 #Egypt And the Good Guys Won!

I woke up today at 6:30am with a peaceful smile on my face. I reached under the covers and greeted my unborn baby; he kicked back and went to sleep. My cats jumped on the bed with me and seemed happier than usual. A few minutes later, I got out of bed and opened the terrace windows; I wanted to watch the first sunrise on the first day of our freedom. There was a dark cloud in the center of the sky but by the time I grabbed my morning cup of tea and came back, deep orange rays were slowly taking over the darkness in the sky. The sun was up and its rays hit the Feng Shui crystal ball hanging by a thread in front of the open terrace doors; rainbow drops filled my bedroom along with a soft fresh breeze.

Good morning Egypt!

Good morning Egyptians!

Good morning to all of those who were born free!

Good morning to the heroes who did not give up their birth-given rights to dignity and pride!

Good morning to those who refused to compromise!

Good morning to those who defied fear and defeated tyranny!

Good morning to those who gave me hope when I almost gave up!

Good morning to those who believe in freedom, change, justice, and unity!

Dear courageous Egyptians,

If you backed off when the police attacked you with tear gas and rubber bullets on the evening of January 25, this free morning would have never come!

If our martyrs (may they rest in peace) did not sacrifice their precious lives and blood, this revolution would have failed!

If the sight of the wounded had scared you, the good guys would have lost!

If you had given up after you were shot at with live ammunition, detained, beaten up, and humiliated, Egypt would have lost its dignity forever!

If you had went home on Friday 28 and refused to go out on the street again, Mubarak and his regime would still be here!

If you had listened to the weak scared voices of those who tried to stifle your passion and rage, if you had listened to those who accepted the dog bones the regime kept throwing at us, if you had been moved by Mubarak's emotional speeches or by Omar Soliman's threats, if you had been overpowered by the treacherous barks of the pro-Mubarak mushrooms, or if you had lost faith, the bad guys would have won!

Thank you for being who you are! Thank you for this iconic moment! Thank you for giving us all hope … and freedom!
