I was very curious about this book when I first saw it years ago. I remember smiling when I read the summary on the back of the book. I was very proud too as Marwa is from the very first Egyptians who started writing in English and targeting a new segment of readers in Egypt.
As an Egyptian, I could relate to the problems the Heroine pointed at in this society. As I always believe that the whole outcome of each individual and of the economy is very much based on relationships! As the degree of creativity inside each one of us is affected by the degree of happiness one possesses.
In Marwa's book, she is triggering the core of the problem and reflecting the extent that sometimes both genders fail to communicate.
She uses the anger of the Heroine, and charges the readers with this energy to help the woman get out of her shell.
Her book was misunderstood by many that she is generally attacking man, but she was only wielding the negative energy inside the reader to do something about it! She was only helping her readers choose the right man.. and start a productive life.
While reading her book, wandering from one metaphor to the other, I really gained much from her theories, even though if some of them I may not be convinced with the moment I read them, but one should be open minded to several philosophies to learn how to accept and expand the bubble of knowledge we live in.
In other words, I as a writer and a reader, learn much from such books. And on personal basis, I have seen women in Egypt being affected too, and have been more encouraged to grasp for their dreams.
This book can also be an exciting piece for the fans of psychology all over the world, as I always believe that Egypt is a land of extremes and it makes a perfect place for inspiration and alien theories.
